Jim Corbett National Park is blessed with two prominent rivers that flow through its territory: the Ramganga River and the Kosi River. Here's some information about these rivers:
1. Ramganga River:
- The Ramganga River is the lifeline of Jim Corbett National Park.
- It originates in the Dhaula Dhar range of the Himalayas and flows through the park, dividing it into two parts: the north and south.
- The river serves as a crucial water source for the park's diverse flora and fauna, attracting a variety of wildlife to its banks.
- Ramganga River offers scenic views, especially at spots like Ramganga Reservoir and Mandal Valley, where visitors can enjoy the beauty of the flowing river amidst the surrounding forested landscapes.
2. Kosi River:
- The Kosi River is another important water body in the region.
- It originates from the eastern slopes of the Himalayas and passes through the Corbett Landscape before flowing further into the Terai region.
- The Kosi River enriches the natural beauty of Jim Corbett National Park, providing a serene environment for both wildlife and visitors.
- The river offers opportunities for activities like fishing, angling, and riverside picnics.
Both the Ramganga and Kosi rivers enhance the biodiversity of Jim Corbett National Park, attracting a variety of wildlife species. Animals frequently visit these rivers to quench their thirst and can be spotted by visitors during safaris or while exploring the park's various watchtowers and viewpoints. It's important to note that access to certain areas along the rivers may have restrictions for conservation purposes. It's advisable to check the guidelines provided by the park authorities and follow their instructions to ensure a responsible and enjoyable experience while appreciating the beauty of these rivers within Jim Corbett National Park.
